Microsoft Employees Disrupt Wii U Best Buy EventsRemember how Nintendo was showcasing some of their E3 games at participating Best Buy stores around the country? Well, apparently Microsoft employees have been hired to go to these events and preach about the Xbox One and make comments like "why would you buy a outdated Wii U when the Xbox One is right around the corner?"
However, the employees aren't getting what they hoped for. Most customers just start bashing the Xbox One in response. Seriously, Microsoft, the people attending these Best Buy Wii U events are people who are intimately familiar with the crap you pulled at E3. They ain't takin' your shit.
At first I thought this might just be a case of one really loyal Microsoft employee taking matters into his own hands (especially since the original source was /v/), but reports have come in from numerous Best Buy's around the country that indicate many Microsoft employees have ambushed the demo lines trying to persuade people to switch to the Xbox One.

There are two ways to write a novel. Plotting (you make an outline, a plan, a roadmap if you will, and then you sit down and write it) and pantsing (you write "by the seat of your pants, throwing caution to the wind). So when I get asked if I'm a plotter or a pantser, I'm all like er, uh, hold on, let me? Pantser? I think? But I kind of, um, do planny things?
And it gets kind of awkward because in these inarticulate moments I have managed to confuse everyone including myself. And probably spilled a drink.
In recent discussions, however, I've had a bit of a revelation, silly as it is. I've realized that I -- like many writers -- am a plotter/pantser hybrid. And perhaps what I'm doing is something we could call Pantsing Responsibly. And, maybe, just maybe, I could share some of my responsible pantsing tips with other writers. Starting with paper notebooks.

The Used Game ParadigmOver the course of this past generation I've been watching the video game market react to the way it's been forced to deal with increasing changes. I've come out against used game sales and even written a journal about boycotting GameStop because (like most people at the time) I believed they were the root cause of all the problems the video game industry has. But that's something I don't believe now as intently as i did then. From where I sit, piracy and used games sales are a problem, but not in the way game companies want us to believe that they are.
Used games are a good thing for consumers. We get to try games out, and if we don't like what we see or finish it early, we trade it in and try another title instead. It's a very good system for us since video game rentals are much harder to come by. Most video rental stores in America have gone extinct and outside specific Red Box Kiosks there aren't a lot of places for consumers to rent video games. The exception, of course, being thr

SPIKE updatesJust thought I'd share with you guys some updates on the progress of finishing my "SPIKE" novel.

It'll be my first contest that I've held...EVER! So it's very exciting :3

The PDE universe represents a project that I suspect my sub-conscious has been developing for a rather long time due to how I've always dreamt of a world without the triple-threat (Christiniaty, Islam, Judaism) that seems to have crippled and still is crippling basic human progress. Having put the Revne Timeline on the backburner for a while, I find I am truly enjoying the Prolix Degero Europae Timeline project, and with help from Arminius1871 on this (he seems to be enjoying this as much as I am), a world is being created, one where the Roman Empire never fell due to Julius Caesar having never been assassinated, Octavian inherited a jingoistic empire that can't even gain a degree of comparison with anything we know of today. Rome is still slave-trading and doing many of the foul things it did in our timeline, but in an era of accelerated technological progression due to a lack of christendom hindering european progression. The Germania Konigsrik represents an ideal that I and many others wish and still hope and in fact will work towards, a re-unification and cultural unity between the distant sons and daughters of the Germanic tribal-folk. In general, if you have a major in classical history, or are fascinated with Homeric or Hellenic literature with a touch of "The Drummer Hodge" and Farley Mowats "The Regiment" check it out. I suspect Arminius will have some fine contributions coming along further down the line.

I will admit that Christianity and Islam are a huge part of the reason that the world advanced as slowly as it did from the Fall of Rome until after the Renaissance but at the same time The Bible was the first book introduced to many fledgling civilizations and was and is the reason why many languages have written words . (though it is also responsible for the cluster-fuck which is Cyrillic.) and Islam played a huge part in preserving the Greek and Roman scrolls and books that would have set humanity back hundreds of years after the The Fall of Rome and the Eastern Roman Empire. (the second of which was more or less caused by greed and easily manipulated disillusioned crusaders returning from the Fourth(?) Crusade.) I'd be kind of interested in this alternate history as a world without the dark ages is something that i would love to see for myself.
