In the North African Colonial War between the NAF and the GDR from 2026 to 2036, the North American Federation was outgunned and heavily out matched in the technological development field. And so the California Institute of Particle Physics Research & Development was contracted to design and build a extremely high-powered and extremely destructive Direct Fire Particle Emission Rifle. What came of this was the Model 2045 Fission Particle Rifle. The M45 FPR was a dead favorite for specialists, regular infantry and without a doubt AT troops and snipers.

One such example of this is that the weapon, albeit containing a miniature Fission reaction chamber within it's frame is capable of cutting the roofs off of buildings, the R&D team actually had to scale down the refraction capability of the lenses within the titanium reinforced hub behind the Focused Point-Fire Emitter that can only loosely be described as an "Barrel". The weapon draws a couple million joules worth of fissible modulated nissin particles and moves them into a miniature reactor just above the trigger housing.

After the particles are drawn into the reaction chamber the weapon focuses the power of the nissin particles into a ball of pure quantum mechanics made physical. With this laws-of-physics shattering bundle that has enough juice being produced to make Einstein roll in his grave is refracted the Titan-Pattern Titanium Molecule reinforced Vulcan-Refraction Honey-combed Lense frame just before the emitter; it makes this high-pitched "shriek" as oxygen molecules are litteraly being destroyed, which in it's own right "breaks" the laws of physics.

And FINALLY it releases a beam with the extra energy being shunted through the mandibles on the top and bottom of the rifles "Barrel". The beam is hot enough to turn sand into liquid glass and hot enough to litteraly vaporize segments of enemy limbs, acting like a scalpel and cauterizer at the same time, the beams width is that of a soccer ball. The weapons total ammunition capacity (If you can call it ammo) is the total amount of charge left within the battery pack, it can discharge a total of twenty-five beams.

Eventually another model of this almost war-crime worthy tool of death and destruction did arise : [link] .

I like it a lot, it seems ridiculously lethal, but the beam that size seems a bit ridiculous for snipers to be using.

Not when they're sniping tanks..........

What kind of range does this thing have that you can feasibly snipe a tank with it? xD

The kind that says, "This causes Einstein to roll in his grave every time it's reloaded" kind............Frankly, the NAF military survey department still has no idea. IT actually scares the top brass.

I'm not surprised. You could take over the entire modern world with a dozen or so of these.

I like it alot actually. the only thing bothering me is... shouldn't there be a casing or something around the power rods? just seems like you're setting yourself up to get an explosion in the face there.

Do you see those four red bits at each corner of the charge pack? Good, alright, now those happen to produce an oscillating electromagnetic field, stopping projectiles and stabilizing the Nissin containment rods. See, every angle covered aside from the Einstein Grave-rolling "laws of physics" breakage.

Looks like direct-energy weapons are all the rage these days. Brilliantly executed idea!

I just gave a gander at the theoretical science behind this type of weapon, I thought of Robert A. Heinlein, J.E. Pournell's CoDominion series and consumed an almost silly amount of Earl Grey (Twinings, Real Bergamont, hell yeah) and in a strange way I felt elated at the prospect of designing a weapon that spits out a soccer ball diameter beam.
